Although exporting is the simplest and the cheapest entrance or gateway to global markets, exporting  many commercial manufactured products in Iran to target markets is not economical for many reasons and local companies cannot compete with their rivals due to economic, and commercial factors, which are out of their control.  Despite having ready labor force and cheap energy, due to low productivity, lack of affordable combined transport to the target markets and application of import tariffs because of lack of free trade agreements, the offered price in the target markets are much higher for Iranian producers than their competitors.


In the meantime, if necessary advantages exist, choosing direct investment strategy in the target market will be the best strategy. Knowledge-based companies have a great deal of potential by relying on their advanced knowledge to develop their own activities in the target markets.
